Sylvanas Windrunner

Sylvanas WindrunnerLadies and gentlemen, I present you… Sylvanas Windrunner (pix). Her friends call her Sylvee in short. Following Kitt’s suggestion of banshee, I have decided to name her after the Queen of the Forsaken. She was after all the first banshee.

Please, a warm welcome to Sylvee.

Say hello to my little friend

New catThis is my new little friend. New roomie. She had a field day in the bedroom all night. And now she’s actively finding all the little corners of the living room and kitchen.

Still have no name for her though. Working on it.

On Microsoft and Apple

So the recent WWDC had a lot to say about Vista. They spent there time telling people how Vista is so much like OS X, while the rumour mills went crazy about a bigger iPod Nano, a video iPod and all that jazz. First think to mention is that in comparison to the past few WWDC Key Note Speeches, this years was just boring and disappointing. Seriously. Arjun if you ever try to drag me there, I’ll unleash… *ahem*

Even though there are lot of things about the new Apple marketing and their new Micro$oft bashing angers me for being over simplified, I do enjoy the fact that it is a very well done marketing scheme. One has to admit that over simplification does make all the average users think that ‘this is it’. Apparently, however, some mac fans forgot to notice that the Mac apparently crashed during a demo this WWDC. And of course we all knot that some of the Get A Mac campaigns can easily be turned around, but Apple obviously does not want to notice those.

What I think, however, Apple is worried. They are worried that Microsoft can win back whatever they lost to the pretty Apple. On the other hand, Apple is getting ready to go down and dirty. All the Intel Mac are actually priced much more reasonably, and also there was an unannounced price cut for all the Apple Cinema displays. Which could mean that they have new ones on the way, or it could mean they are ready to take on the Dell competition which are almost as good. For a good week, Apple’s 30″ display was cheaper than Dell’s 30″.

I’m pretty sure that there is a lot more to come in the OS X vs Vista front. So let us sit back, grab some popcorn and enjoy the show.

Rock City and Ruby Falls

This weekend, one thing led to another and soon I found myself driving three, sometimes four, lovely girls to Rock City and Ruby Falls in Tennessee. The drive out there was eventless, though by the end of the day I actually got tired of sitting in a car. A part of me is happy that BSA never ended up going to Rock City. It was actually a fun walk, but I cannot see some of the students actually going thru the whole walk. Yes, I have pictures, and they will be up when I get around to it.

The next on our list was Ruby Falls, which also involved a 2 mile trail, just like Rock City. The fall at the end was quite amazing. However, I do which that they would let us be at the fall for a longer period. I guess they couldn't as there were other people waiting for us to get out, after all. I love seeing natural wonders and it's always great to go on walks, though long walks like these alone are actually quite boring.

Popularity contest

I wonder what is wrong with the world when I find things like the Popularity Dialer [via LifeHacker]. Granted that I know of people who have faked phone conversations before. Hell I have gotten people to call me before to get me out of the trouble. But isn't this just pushing it? They have the four voice calls right there and it is just fun listening to it. This is like the next best thing since Hillary Duff's phone call promo for the Cinderella Story.
