অামি বাংলা টাইপ করি।

I miss my Avro Keyboard. I don’t mind Linux at all. Once I got Xubuntu which feel faster and then added Compiz Fusion to make it look sexy and get the awesome Virtual Desktop shortcuts everything was good. Until I wanted to type in Bangla. You know Avro Keyboard’s Phonetic entry makes life so easy that you don’t have to learn to type Bangla at all. You just try to spell out the word in Roman letters and boom! it’s there in Bangla fonts. The typed the line above in whole minute. That’s how long it took me to find all the characters. Even in the phonetic mode.

Otherwise, Xubuntu is definitely slick. After adding Compiz Fusion on top of that it really makes for a killer environment. Though trying to live on the bleeding edge software can be a bit annoying if you don’t mind living on the stable edge then the application management could not be easier than Synaptic.

Having Firefox on the environment helps further since I don’t really miss my Win32 world as much until I need to get some work done and I need to get the VPN going. Yeah.. haven’t figured that one out yet. Well all in due time.. sometime

I have to admit, that even though this upcoming laptop is a complete piece of shit, I’m impressed that it comes for only $150. I think it’s time for people to realize that the stupid crap that they buy for $399.99 isn’t worth have as much. Mainly because you play for Windows and other junk that will itself crawl on the laptop.

But now think of this, you can buy the hardware for $150, and keep the Fedora Linux on it if you like, or you can dig up your old copy of Windows 2000 that you owned and use it. Now that’s a nice way to reuse junk.

I was never a big fan of the Micro$oft corporation, and recent events have been pushing me further and further into out of the fourth layer fan base. Since the birth of Mac OS X, I have been quite interested in the system. Using a wonderful GUI along with the best command prompt, was just awesome. If it weren’t for the lack of software, games and upgradability, I probably would have switched to OS X a long time back. Specially after I used it for lon periods at work. The other work.

Recently, as some of you might know Apple has decided to move their system to the world of x86, which was interesting considering it was well after the bloom of x86-64. The ability to dual-boot into OS X and Windows definitely aids in the whole switching process. But that’s just the beginning for me.

Gentoo community announced the other day, that their wonderful Protage system will be available for Mac OS X. For those who haven’t tried, it is a very wonderful way of getting package sources and compiling it on your computer making it always opitmized for your system. However, the price tag on it is obviously time. Bigger packages means, longer installation time which is mostly defined by the compilation time.

However for smaller stuff, it’s just amazing. Just imagine how much time you save when you do
emerge nmap
instead of actually going out and hunting for the right package. It’s awesome!
