Dune – The final chapter

There are many people, myself included, out there who would gladly give their multiple lives away just to get a glimpse of the possibilities of the final chapter of Dune. Unfortunately for those people Frank Herbert didn’t quite get to finish his work. Even for unfortunate for all those people is that the glimpse they would die for had come in 2007.

So why was it unfortunate? Having finally finished reading the final chapters (supposedly guided by notes from Frank Herbert himself), I would have to point out that the notes left behind by the original author must have been seriously incomplete. Never in a million years I would think that Dune will tie up all the lose ends and give happy endings to all its multiple story lines. It’s just not the Dune way. But then, there’s the saying – never say never.

Spurious updates

Before I start I just want to say that Miami was great! However, work has been crazy since I got back. In between all the craziness, I have managed to update my picture galleries with TripTracker.net Slideshow. I’m still using a modified PhotoStack for the gallery, but I changed the LightBox animation with this new one, as it just looked fabulous. Check it out yourself.

While I was doing that, I finally installed a test web server on my desktop again after like a year or so. The great news is that now the server is running in 64-bit mode! I really can’t want until more and more of the applications start providing native 64-bit support. If you are unclear about it’s true benefits, let Lord Jobs show it to you. Granted I’m in the Windows world, but really it’s that much better.

P.S> I have managed to finish learning how to solve a 4×4 Rubik’s cube!

Bye Bye Wii

I have done something today that have already confused a lot of my friends. Some may even consider it blasphemous. But I have done it, and there is no going back.

I have sold my Wii. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you read it right. I have sold my Wii. The Wii and I had a decent relationship. It was a fun thing when my sisters were hear. It is fun when my cousins are around. In fact the last few times they were around I didn’t even play with them.

I always wished that the Wii could stream videos from my machine. Or may be just play some DVDs. I wish the Wii could support 720p so that web pages will look better. May be once the Wii demand is met Nintendo will focus on the next Wii. Or may be they will be nice and provide all these features somehow for free. At that point in time, I can always get the Wii again :)

Until then, bye bye Wii. Hope you conquer more of the console market.
