Blast from the past
Just talk about a blast from the past. I know that sometime last year I told you all about how it was crazy when Candice called me after 6 months. Well this story is nothing like that. I mean nothing at all like that. This one is off the hook, yo!
Back in freshmen year (which was 2000) I used to talk with this girl from Bangladesh. We used to just joke around and talk a lot about music and stuff. Actually she was the reason I got into radio. Anways, the year afterwards she got married and for busy and all so we kinda lost touch.
Today, err…. I mean, yesterday, I was cleaning my address book and I emailed a bunch of people I haven’t heard from for a while. I figured I’ll do one last check before I throw some of those addresses away. And bam. She was the one who replied. After almost 4 freaking years. Crazy right?

It’s weird the people who pop up when you least expect it.

That’s so awesome… How is she doing after all that time? Well, one would hope!

A few days ago, one of my math league buddies in high school sent me an IM message on gaim. I haven’t talked to him for more than 5 years or ever since we graduated from HS. The spontaneity of his IM surprised me. We had a catch up conversation and then we talked about the good old days when we pwned other schools in math league. It was a fantastic talk that brought back some nostalgia.
I think there are many people who are just sitting there, waiting to be called or IMed or e-mailed. They are the people who have been on my IM list and address book for years. Yet, I am too afraid to initiate a conversation because I haven’t talked to them for ages. It’s a catch 22 situation where someone has to build up some courage for the initial bootstrapping. I have done a few bootstrapping (and I’m not talking about computers) since the surprise IM I got. Believe me, most of them were bloody dying to hear back from me. I could feel their enthusiasm across wires.
